Stony Plain Fire Department Supports a More Inclusive Healthcare Experience

The WestView Health Foundation is grateful to the Stony Plain Fire Department for their generous support of a new sensory-friendly space within the WestView Health Centre Laboratory.

Funds raised through the department's community fundraising efforts will help create a welcoming and supportive environment for neurodivergent patients and others who may experience sensory sensitivities when accessing laboratory services.

For many individuals, medical appointments and procedures can be overwhelming. A sensory-friendly space is designed to reduce stress and anxiety by providing a calmer environment with thoughtful features that help patients feel more comfortable, supported, and at ease during their visit. This initiative reflects a shared commitment to ensuring healthcare is accessible, inclusive, and compassionate for everyone in our community. By helping create a more positive laboratory experience, the Stony Plain Fire Department is making a meaningful difference for patients and families who access services at WestView Health Centre.

We extend our sincere thanks to the members of the Stony Plain Fire Department and the community members who supported their fundraising efforts. Your generosity is helping create a healthcare experience that is not only effective, but also welcoming and responsive to the unique needs of every patient.

Together, we are building a more inclusive and patient-centred WestView Health Centre.
